-Book Cover- I had the privilege of reading and reviewing this wonderful book, Mobility Matters - Stepping Out in Faith, and experiencing the adventures that Amy went through. If I didn't have a 2.5 year old and an 11 month old, I would have read it in one sitting! Amy has an educational background, she has traveled all over the world, she's funny, and has a positive outlook despite the loss of her vision and hearing. Amy has Usher Syndrome type III (born with normal hearing and sig ... read more
Would You be Able to Say “I Lived”?
"I hope that you don't suffer But take the pain Hope when the moment comes You'll say.... I, I did it all I, I did it all I owned every second That this world could give I saw so many places The things that I did Yeah, with every broken bone I swear I lived" There are so many times we as humans say "I cant do THIS because of {____}. A World of New Sounds
At the age of 3 1/2, my parents discovered I was partially deaf. Being the first child, they had no one to compare me to and were unaware of my hearing loss. I was a VERY good lip reader and I heard low sounds pretty well. Why would they think I had a hearing loss when I would come rushing into the kitchen after my dad would try to sneak a cookie out of the ceramic cookie jar??? (this story has been told by my parents - I have no memory of this!) hee hee. They actually grew concerned because I ... read more
Independence in a NEW Light: Stepping Out
Stepping Out: I knew when we moved into our home that I needed to have my husband take me and the kids on our first walk to the shopping center. But I kept putting it off because I knew deep down inside the reason behind it wasn't a fun one for me. Since I "Hung Up the Keys" at the end of February, I knew it was TIME. On March 7th, we went on the walk.... I was so nervous! I was having anxiety. I felt emotional inside and I was definitely short with my husband and 2 year old son. I was ... read more

Hanging Up the Keys
Did you ever think there would be a time in your life where you would be forced to make a decision and give up your independence to drive? Yah, me neither. That time has come for me. Don't worry, I am not blind yet. I can still do my photography, crafts, cook, etc. I still see (for the most part) and I am sure I can drive better than most people. However, after reading an article on how people with R.P. have multiple blind spots (besides the peripheral) and how when our ... read more
The Good, The Bad, and The Blessings…..
Wow, what a year 2013 has been. I think I can honestly say the last few months of 2013 was one of the hardest months of my life. I don't think I've ever had my emotions so thrown in waves like mine did. Thinking back on everything, I decided to write them in categories because that is how I view it. These went back to back with each other, some within hours, days, to weeks apart. AH! I was so overwhelmed. I am so thankful for the prayers of family and friends and for the continued faith in ... read more
Patience is a Virtue (God WILL Provide)
Have you ever really defined the phrase "Patience is a Virtue"? Patience: the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. Virtue: behavior showing high moral standards. I like the below portion of an article I was reading on www.christianitytoday.com . . . . . . . "When defined as "waiting without complaint," patience might seem to be a morally insignificant trait. What's so virtuous about not complaining? In itself, ... read more
